1. Platform Overview
GeoLab 1.0 is a facilitated educational virtual reality (VR) environment designed to support senior secondary Earth Science instruction. It is delivered in-person by a qualified facilitator and used for short-duration learning activities aligned with Ontario curriculum expectations.
• Intended users: Grade 11-12 students
• Use case: Supervised, instructor-led classroom activity
• Duration: 75 minutes per student per session
• Deployment: On-site, facilitator controlled

 

2. Data Collection and Privacy
GeoLab 1.0 is designed to minimize digital risk.
• No student accounts required
• No login credentials
• No personal identifiers collected
• No audio, video, biometric, or behavioural tracking
• No analytics tied to individual students
• No third-party advertising, cookies, or trackers
GeoLab 1.0 complies with Ontario public-sector privacy expectations and can operate in alignment with MFIPPA requirements.


3. Hardware and Software
• Standalone VR headsets (no tethered cables)
• No integration with school internal systems
• No LMS or student email access required
• Content is preloaded and controlled by the facilitator


4. Network and Security
• No access to school networks required
• Can operate offline or without persistent connectivity
• No external data transmission during use
• Content updates handled by Virtua outside of school systems
• Only access to WIFI required


5. Content Control and Safety
• Content is static, curated, and education-specific
• No open-world or user-generated content
• Facilitator retains full control over session flow
• Students can remain seated or within defined physical boundaries


6. Accessibility and Compliance
• Seated participation available
• Opt-out alternatives provided
• AODA considerations addressed through alternative learning activities
